Award winning author/illustrator, Lauren Castillo, visited Grundy Center Elementary on October 18, 2018. Upon arrival, Lauren was greeted by Nana from her book Nana in the City and together, they walked through Central Park!
Throughout the day, Lauren presented in the multipurpose room, which had been turned into pages of her book!
Lauren had a wonderful presentations with the students talking about how she began illustrating, her inspirations, shared her drawing journals, character studies, and her favorite technique!
Lauren also visited classrooms to talk about writing, illustrating, life as an author, what it was like to win a Caldecott Honor Medal, and answered many questions the eager students presented.
Lauren also looked at student work and decorations that were displayed relating to her book, Nana in the City.
